SUMMARY:Elgar's Enigma Variations
DESCRIPTION:Deanna Tham\, Music Director Candidate\nSara Duchovnay\, Soprano \nA centuries-old puzzle\, Elgar’s Enigma Variations is said to have a “dark saying that must be left unguessed.” Music Director Finalist\, Deanna Tham\, will lead the orchestra in this mysterious yet transformative piece and you can take a guess at the cryptic message yourself. We’ll also travel to Tennessee with the dynamic soprano Sara Duchovnay to be immersed in the richly textured Knoxville Summer of 1915. DESCRIPTION:Inspired by land\, legend\, and spirit\, this program featuring our Principal Bassoonist Nick Ober brings ancient stories to life through sound. Gabriela Ortiz’s Kauyumari and Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Ghost of the White Deer draw on Indigenous mythology and the natural world. Brahms’ lyrical Third Symphony\, described by Norman as “the perfect winter symphony\,” brings us soundly home.
