SUMMARY:The Cycle of Beginnings
DESCRIPTION:Robert Moody\, Guest Conductor\nBillings Symphony Chorale\nZuri\, Spinto Soprano\nJonathan Pierce Rhodes\, Tenor \nThe monumental Search Season comes to an end in a brilliant evening of looking back and moving forward as we embrace this new chapter in the Billings Symphony’s story. In this concert\, led by Guest Conductor Robert Moody\, we travel again to the Bohemian countryside with Bedrich Smetana’s The Moldau as the symphony evokes the course of a flowing river through sound. The night continues as we present the Montana premiere of Christopher Tin’s The Drop That Contained the Sea\, a work structured around the water cycle as each movement follows the journey and changes that something even as simple as water must take. \nThis concert also marks the season’s biggest announcement\, celebrating the results of this outstanding Music Director search! \nBedrich Smetana\nThe Moldau\nEdward Elgar\nNimrod from Enigma Variations\nIn memory of Billings Symphony friends we have recently lost \nMusic Director Announcement \nIntermission \nChristopher Tin\nThe Drop that Contained the Sea

SUMMARY:American Trails with Edgar Meyer
DESCRIPTION:This vibrant program celebrates the many voices of America\, headlined by virtuoso bassist and composer Edgar Meyer. The wide-open spirit of the frontier comes alive in Aaron Copland’s Rodeo\, while the jazz-infused sparkle of George Gershwin’s An American in Paris brings the energy of a bustling city to the concert hall. At the heart of the program\, Meyer takes center stage in two dazzling double bass concertos that seamlessly blend classical tradition with Appalachian and bluegrass influences. As The New Yorker proclaims\, he is “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively unchronicled history of his instrument.” Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to experience his artistry live on the Willson stage.
